Cossington Park Rebranding

Requirement: Rebranding

The challenge

Cossington Park is a luxury holiday let in Somerset. Owned by the same family for around 400 years, it is home to their antiques, portraits and over 5,000 books, and set in 22 acres of stunning grounds dominated by an exotic Chinese Zelkova elm tree brought back by an ancestor from China two centuries ago.

The client felt their existing logo and brand identity were visually outdated, narrow in offering, and undersold what Cossington Park has to offer as a place to stay.

The solution

Our starting point was to unearth exactly what Cossington Park stood for through gaining feedback from the team and data mining through hundreds of visitor testimonials and feedback.

Two points cropped up consistently. Firstly, that Cossington Park was a place to enjoy at any time of year, whether cozying up in front of the open fire in the depths of winter or enjoying a walk in the beautiful grounds in summer. Secondly, was the feeling of homeliness with the open fire and extensive library offering a warm embrace.

Positioning Cossington Park as an all-year round destination, we designed a logo solution and new colour palette that captured the mood and feel of each season. The logo reflects the changing seasons through a stable of four versions, each with its individual colour palette.

Using a mixture of a serif font for the wordmark element and a more modern slant for the emblem leaf of the Zelkova tree, we created a fresher, more modern feel without any loss of the heritage aspect.

The strapline ’Our House, Your Home…’ locks up with the logo and provides a firm focus on the unique experience offered to visitors. The line was also extended into a mission statement.

We also developed a set of four seasonal graphical backgrounds for marketing materials to reinforce Cossington Park’s USP as a ‘destination for all seasons’.
